45th International Shipment of the Year!

August 29th, 2025 Newsletter

What a joy it is to serve the Lord by meeting the needs of others! Yesterday, August 28, we sent out our 45th international shipment of the year. This trailer full of supplies is heading to Guatemala, where our partner on the ground, Food For The Poor, will distribute the items.

The shipment included:

  • Fire equipment

  • 112 Layette Kits

  • 186 outfits for little girls and boys

  • Baby items

  • 14,000 dust masks

  • Cover Them With Love quilts

  • Orthopedic supplies

  • 15 electric sewing machines

  • Hygiene supplies

  • Medical supplies

  • Cleaning supplies

Total value: $178,403.60

It’s a beautiful thing when people—near and far—come together to serve others. This kind of partnership and sacrifice transforms lives around the globe and will bring hope and empowerment to those receiving this shipment in Guatemala.

Thank you to everyone who makes shipments like these possible! Whether you collect items, pack the trailer, or help distribute supplies, your role is vital to our mission of being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Let’s continue to pray for Guatemala and for those receiving these items—that they would be blessed by the work done through Midwest Mission!

Nona’s Sewing Machine

Another donation story that might just pull on your heartstrings, and maybe even bring a tear or two!

We recently received a treadle sewing machine from Coal City, Illinois. This beautiful machine didn’t just come with a sewing cabinet, it came with a special story, too.

The donor’s Nona moved from Italy to Ellis Island at the age of 16. From a young age, she loved to sew. This Franklin pump sewing machine was her very first, and she used it to make a living, creating all kinds of beautiful pieces. When she eventually got a newer, more modern machine, she passed this one down to her granddaughter, who also learned to sew on it.

After learning to sew with her Nona, the granddaughter went on to major in clothing and merchandising in college, and loved every minute of it. She says she owes it all to her sweet Nona and this cherished old sewing machine.

She donated it to Midwest Mission, hoping it can find new life in the hands of someone else and praying it will serve another incredible woman as well as it served her Nona.

Many of our donations come with meaningful stories, but this one truly touched all of our hearts. To receive a sewing machine passed down through generations is so special and meaningful to us at Midwest Mission. We are committed to ensuring that this treasured machine finds another loving home, and another extraordinary lady, just like Nona.

Thank you for your generous and heartfelt donation!
