International Shipment #19 to Haiti

July 10th, 2026 Newsletter

Another shipment of hope is on its way! On Wednesday, July 8, Midwest Mission's 19th international shipment departed for Haiti.

Through our partnership with Food For The Poor, Midwest Mission continues to support communities in Haiti by providing humanitarian relief requested by our partners on the ground.

This shipment began with a request for Birthing Kits. After hearing about the need, Melissa Brookens, Director of Missions, asked if Layette Kits, a baby incubator, and other baby items that had been donated could also be included. The answer was a resounding, "Yes!"

Because of that conversation, this shipment grew to include additional supplies that will help care for mothers and newborns alongside many other essential resources.

The shipment included:

  • 560 Birthing Kits

  • 224 Layette Kits

  • 120 Home Care Kits

  • 280 Personal Dignity Kits

  • 7,200 Blessing Bags (providing 43,200 meals)

  • 65 Plarn Sleeping Mats

  • 4 Treadle Sewing Machines

  • 6 Electric Sewing Machines

  • 4,720 Disposable Diapers

  • 12 Wheelchairs and 34 Walkers

  • 1 Baby Incubator

  • Food handling gloves, cloth bags, buckets with lids, tools, scrubber sponges, orthopedic supplies, and hospital scrubs

Weight: 21,780 lbs

Value: $110,176

Every shipment begins with a need and is made possible by the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the strength of partnerships. Thank you for helping provide resources that support families and communities in Haiti!

Looking Back. Looking Forward.

As we reach the halfway point of the year, it's a natural time to reflect on what God has been doing through Midwest Mission—and to look ahead with anticipation for what's to come.

In the first six months of the year, we’ve sent 17 international shipments and 73 domestic disbursements. $1.73 million worth of supplies are now in the hands of those who need them most.

If you've been following our shipments, you may have noticed we've sent fewer international shipments so far this year than we did during the same time last year.

While that number tells part of the story, it doesn't tell the whole story.

Over the past six months, we've been intentionally strengthening the way we serve. Behind the scenes, our team has been refining processes, improving the flow of our warehouse, and adapting to extensively more shipment requirements from our partners that have come from changes in country. These changes require more planning and coordination on the front end, but they also help ensure that every shipment is even more effective once it reaches its destination.

Just as importantly, we've been asking a simple question:

How can every shipment create the greatest possible impact?

That focus has shaped many of the decisions we've made this year.

While Personal Dignity Kits, Layette Kits, Home Care Kits, and our other Kits remain a vital part of our ministry, we've also placed renewed emphasis on resources that can transform lives for years to come.

A wheelchair can restore independence.

A sewing machine can help someone earn an income and provide for their family.

A bicycle can give someone reliable transportation to work, school, or medical care.

Firefighting equipment can help protect an entire community.

These are the kinds of resources that continue changing lives long after they arrive. But take more effort to process.

As we continue to send Kits alongside these transformational items, our goal is not simply to fill containers. It is to send the right resources to the right places at the right time—meeting the needs our partners identify and helping communities thrive and become self-sustaining.

As we look toward the second half of the year, we are excited. The work of strengthening our systems today is preparing us to serve even more effectively tomorrow.

Thank you for walking alongside us through your prayers, generosity, donated items, and time. Every wheelchair, sewing machine, Kit, bicycle, and prayer is part of something much bigger than a shipment count. Together, we are showing God’s love in a practical way, and letting God’s love transform lives in every aspect for generations to come.

When we look into the eyes of recipients, it is so clear that your help has brought hope, empowerment, and love in Christ’s name.
