International Shipment #32 is on its Way to Guatemala
October 2nd, 2026 Newsletter
On October 2, Midwest Mission sent International Shipment #32 to Guatemala, partnering with Food For The Poor and the Order of Malta to provide practical resources that bring hope and empowerment to communities in need.
The 18,465 pound shipment has a total value of $162,367 and includes a wide variety of resources that will serve people in different ways.
Included on this shipment is:
Fire Gear: Jackets, pants, air tanks, boots, helmets, gloves, hoses, and a fan
4,800 Blessing Bags
560 Student Kits
55 Walkers
18 Sewing Machines
560 Personal Dignity Kits
15 Bikes
73 Tarps
7 School Desks
114 chairs
1 Pallet of tools
Every item in this container is being sent because someone gave, someone sorted, someone packed, and many people prayed. Together, these contributions become resources that will be transformational for people in their time of crisis.
A Student Kit provides empowerment and opportunity that comes from a good education. A sewing machine gives someone the means to provide for their family. A walker will bring mobility back to someone who could no longer move on their own. The Blessing Bags alone will provide food for 28,800 people. These items, though simple, are life-changing.
This shipment is another example of what happens when the hearts and hands of God’s people come together to transform resources into humanitarian relief. You can join in the mission — visit midwestmission.org/get-involved.
Algona First United Methodist Church Youth Group Assembles 100 Student Kits for Students Around the World
Story from Judy Samp, Algona First UMC
There are many keys to success, but one of the most important is education. In the United States, we often take for granted the blessings we have when it comes to education. Most children have school supplies needed to further their learning.
The problem is that many around the world and around the corner lack the basic supplies needed to accelerate the learning process.
Earlier this summer, Algona First UMC collected school supplies for this Student Kit project. Then, on a Wednesday night in September, the middle school youth packed 100 Student Kits!
The Kits will be delivered to Midwest Mission in Jefferson, Iowa in November and shipped where needed from there — most likely overseas, to students who cannot afford, or don't have access to the items they need to succeed in school.
Midwest Mission believes that every person deserves hope! That’s why they send tangible resources to those in need to make an intangible difference in their lives through hope and empowerment.
Every Kit made, every step taken, every minute spent, every conversation had, every item collected, every volunteer hosted...it's all for His Kingdom!
