Our 40th International Shipment this year!
This week we were blessed enough to send two more international shipments! That makes 40 international shipments in 2025! Which means we are only 10 shipments away from reaching our goal for the entire year!
The first shipment went to Tegucigalpa, Honduras through our partner Food for the Poor.Â
It included:Â
4,800 Blessing Bags
280 Personal Dignity Kits
48 Sewing Machines
74 Walkers
60 Canes
30 Mattresses
120 Pairs of Crutches
2,342 Pieces of clothing
Miscellaneous Baby Items
Miscellaneous Medical supplies
Hygiene Supplies
Tables & ChairsÂ
Value: $115,591.00
The second shipment went to Jamaica through our partner Food for the Poor. It included:Â
81 Bed Springs
162 Head and footboards
81 Twin Hospital Bed Mattresses
16 sets of sheets
Value: $39,524.00
Compared to some of our previous shipments, these two were on the smaller side, but that doesn’t mean they were any less impactful! They included essential supplies that will make a significant difference.
The second shipment, in particular, included beds that had been specifically requested, and we were honored to make it happen.Â
We had recently received a generous donation of mattresses from both Illinois State University and The College of Wooster. Our Executive Director, Chantel Corrie, received a call from Wooster’s materials manager asking if we happened to accept mattresses, as they were in the process of replacing theirs. After inspecting the beds and confirming we could take them, we returned a few weeks later to pick them up. So when we later received a call requesting beds, it felt like a perfect little God moment. We’re incredibly grateful that the mattresses came at just the right time. All the glory goes to God!
These shipments are a perfect example of our commitment to only sending what is truly needed. We pride ourselves on responding directly to requests, and never sending excess items that weren’t needed. It’s important to us to honor what people ask for, and that’s exactly what we did here.
Sending shipments like these brings us so much joy. It’s heartwarming to know that we can help so many people with such simple, yet vital, resources. And none of it would be possible without our generous donors and amazing volunteers who give their time and talents to pack and prepare these supplies.
Thank you to every hand involved in making these shipments happen!
Transforming Lives One Mat at a Time: A Mission of Purpose & Service!
It is everyone's favorite time of year…Annual Conference season! Our annual conferences are the most exciting time of the year for Midwest Mission, because we are overwhelmed with joy at the amount of donations we receive. With these donations we are able to transform so many lives all around the world and spread the love of Jesus. Recently at Midwest Mission’s Annual Conference in Minnesota, we were blessed with an immense number of generous donations.Â
There was one donation that stood out, and we knew we just had to share the story.Â
Bethesda North Pointe made a donation of 14 Plarn Sleeping Mats, weaved by hand using a loom. Jacky Lindaquist, activity director at Bethesda North Pointe, informed us that they heard about the Sleeping Mats when they volunteered at Midwest Mission. Before leaving, they got plans to make their own loom and then when they got home, they started giving them to those interested.
A senior assisted living facility in Minnesota showed great interest, so Jacky and a few members of the church spent a few hours there teaching them to make their first mat.Â
One of the residents, Terry, had been wanting to find his purpose since he first moved into the facility. After learning how to make the Sleeping Mats, he took on a leadership role in this project, and Terry spends many hours creating beautiful and colorful mats. Another resident, Suzy, has joined Terry with this project and they have both proactively devoted their time to this.Â
Terry and Suzy have a new found love for weaving these Mats, they both have been excited to give back to those in need, and they have a new-found purpose for themselves. Since they started this activity, they have created a plarn mat each week for a total of 14 plarn sleeping mats that they donated to Midwest Mission.Â
It is stories just like this one that make Midwest Mission what it is. Without volunteers' time and effort to serve those in need, we would not be able to accomplish our mission. If you've been thinking about volunteering for Midwest Mission, let this be your sign. Volunteering is more than just lending a hand—it’s a chance to find purpose, connect with others, and make a real difference in the lives of those in need. Step into something meaningful and be a part of transforming lives, including your own!
