May has been a busy month. And we are only half-way through! After last week’s shipment to six different countries, you’d think the warehouse would be pretty empty. But, because of YOUR generosity, three more international shipments went out this week.
The first shipment was in partnership with the United States Southern Command once again. Last week’s shipment was for the USNS Comfort Ship. Monday’s shipment will land in Guatemala, for a humanitarian aid exercise with the Guatemalan and United States militaries. We are very thankful for the opportunity to partner on two different missions.
Because of you, 840 Personal Dignity Kits, 140 soccer balls, and 250 boxes of toys (donated by a corporate donor), were shipped to Guatemala. And, they’ve already arrived in the country!
The second shipment of the week is heading towards Peru. On Tuesday, May 13, the truck arrived early in the morning to take a big load of supplies, requested by our partner Food For The Poor. A large portion of this shipment was Fire Gear and Equipment donated by fire departments around the Midwest — many from Iowa. Because people were willing to go and ask, hundreds of firefighters in Peru will have the proper equipment they need to safely fight fires.
This shipment included included:
50 mattresses
50 Bed Packs
432 Layette Kits
100 Cover Them With Love Quilts
12,000 Rice and Soy Blessing Bags
55 Tarps
Fire Equipment:
44 Air tanks
35 Pairs of boots
74 Pairs of gloves
39 Helmets
107 Jackets and Pants
1 Jaws of Life Cutter, Spreader, and Hydraulics
Other equipment
The shipment was valued at $255,656.60! This was the highest value shipment of the year.
Finally, the third shipment of the week is also destined for Guatemala, also in partnership with Food For The Poor. This shipment was valued at $192,101.50 and included:
20 Wheelchairs
20 Bikes
4 Treadle Sewing Machines
16 Electric Sewing Machines
112 Sleeping Mats
289 Cover Them With Love Quilts
Medical supplies
Tarps
Cleaning supplies, school supplies, and hygiene supplies
None of these shipments would be leaving the warehouse if it weren’t for the dedicated monetary and in-kind donors, volunteers, and prayer warriors who are the heart and soul of Midwest Mission.
Without volunteers, Kits wouldn’t be put together, desks wouldn’t be made, and bikes and sewing machines wouldn’t be refurbished.
Without in-kind donors who donate physical items, necessary items like fire gear, medical supplies, bikes, sewing machines, and desks wouldn't be sent!
Without monetary donors, items that don’t get donated wouldn’t be able to be purchased. Kits would not make it into the hands of people in need, because supplies for the whole Kit couldn’t be purchased.
Without prayer warriors, this ministry would not function. It is powered by faith and prayer. God moments are constantly showing up, and we know it’s because of YOU, praying fervently for this ministry, and the people we serve together.
So, thank you.

The Goal: Purchase the Midwest Mission Iowa Building
In 2023, the doors to Midwest Mission Iowa opened, and it’s been growing ever since!
Since opening, more than 500 volunteers have donated over 7,400 hours of serving. Last year, the location received enough donated supplies to send one semi-truck load to Midwest Mission Illinois every month. Now, they are sending TWO semi-truck loads of supplies monthly.
Because of Midwest Mission Iowa, more people, both around the world and locally, have received what they need. But, the need continues to grow — more people need help, and more volunteers and donors want to help.
To keep aiding the growing need, Midwest Mission Iowa needs to be a permanent part of the ministry. To do the most good we can with the resources we are given, we need to purchase the building.
The goal is to raise $400,000 to buy the Iowa building, expand our current scope of activities, and, most importantly, serve a greater number of people in need. Currently, the lease costs the ministry $3,900 a month, adding up to $46,800 a year. How great would it be to use that $46,800 to send requested resources!
Over 100,000 lives could be changed every year with those funds.
You can help make this happen by giving towards the Faith In Our Future Campaign. The Endowment Fund will match up to $100,000 donated towards this initiative. Every $1 you donate will turn into $2!
You can make a donation at midwestmission.org/building or send a check to 1001 Mission Drive, Pawnee, IL 62558.
