June 6th, 2025 Newsletter
On Tuesday, June 3rd, the 28th international shipment left the warehouse! This shipment is destined for Guatemala City in Guatemala.
This shipment contained a lot of medical supplies. One of our core areas of ministry is health. When someone’s health is in jeopardy, everything else is. When you aren’t feeling well, or can’t get around, it can affect your ability to go to work, attend school, care for your family, and more.
For many people around the world, access to basic medical help is limited. Something as simple as a wheelchair can be impossible to find, or unreasonably expensive for someone already living in poverty.
That’s why Midwest Mission collects used walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, home care beds, orthopedic supplies, and many other new medical supplies. Together we can provide the resources to meet the medical needs of so many people around the world.
So often, we tuck items away in a closet for “someday” we might need it again. But, we implore you to donate these items so that someone who needs it today can use it. And, it will change their life.
We learned of a young boy who had been paralyzed from the waist down since birth. For his entire life, he had to rely on other people to take him to the bathroom, get him food, and go anywhere inside or outside of his home.
But then, he received a wheelchair from someone who had donated their used wheelchair to Midwest Mission. Since then, he has had independence! He can go where he needs to when he needs to.
Before, there wouldn’t have been a chance that he could work, and school was difficult, but now because he is mobile, he will be able to work as he grows up!
Because someone made a donation, his life was changed.
If you have medical supplies you’d like to donate, please take a look at this flyer. You could change lives!

Laurie Collert (Woodsfield, OH):
Woodsfield United Methodist Church recently held an event called Super Service Sewing Saturday.
There were four project stations with a team captain at each station. The projects were: One-Handled Bags, Baby Kimonos, Reusable Feminine Hygiene Pads, and Boys Outfits (shorts and tanks). Each person could choose the project they wanted to complete.
The United Methodist Bishop in Ohio has been promoting the 3 F's: Faith, Fire, and Fruits. This sewing day was a great way to meet all three. They completed 17 bags, 7 boy outfits, 25 pads, and 10 baby kimonos, with many taking items home to complete. Of the 22 in attendance, 16 asked to do the project again. Looks like it may be the beginning of a sewing circle! They hope to have another sewing day early in June.
What a great way to teach many people at one time, and to get many people involved in sewing! Thanks for sharing this great idea, Woodsfield!
