The Freedom to Bless Others

July 3rd, 2026 Newsletter

Tomorrow is Independence Day, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy as Americans and to remember those whose sacrifice, service, and courage helped make those freedoms possible.

At Midwest Mission, we are especially grateful for the freedom to live out our faith through service, showing God’s love in a practical way and giving thanks to God for all He has done.

As you enjoy fireworks, hot dogs, and time with family and friends, take a moment to reflect on the freedoms you have and how they shape the way you live.

Freedom gives us opportunities and choices. It allows us to care for our neighbors, extend generosity, and use what we have to serve others.

Midwest Mission is proud to support communities right here in the United States. We are also extremely grateful to serve people around the world who do not have the same privileges as we do. Places that need hope and empowerment, and desperately need simple resources that will make a huge difference.

Over the years, that has included sending relief to Ukraine during war, food to Haiti during times of instability, and medical supplies to communities throughout Central America where access to resources can be limited.

But above all, this Independence Day invites us to remember another kind of freedom.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we are offered freedom from sin and death and the hope of life with Him. Our greatest freedom is not found in what we possess or where we live, it is found in the grace we have received through Jesus.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” — Romans 8:1–2

Praise God for the freedoms we enjoy, and praise God that through Christ we are invited to be His hands and feet, serving others with the freedom we have.

International Shipment #18 Heads to El Salvador

On Wednesday, July 1, Midwest Mission’s 18th international shipment of the year left the warehouse and began its journey to El Salvador.

El Salvador is the smallest, and most densely populated, country in Central America. Known as The Land of Volcanoes, it is home to more than 100 volcanoes across roughly 8,000 square miles. While rich in beauty and culture, many communities continue to face challenges including poverty, natural disasters, political instability, and limited access to resources.

Through our partnership with Food For The Poor, Midwest Mission helps support communities in El Salvador by providing tangible resources that bring hope and empowerment. One way we are doing that is by helping furnish newly built schools.

Food For The Poor is working to build one school each month across 10 countries and has asked Midwest Mission to partner in this initiative by helping provide desks and chairs to fill these classrooms.

This shipment to El Salvador included 21 school computer desks and 57 children’s stacking chairs that will help furnish one of these new schools.

Education can open doors to learning, opportunity, and future possibilities. When children have access to safe places to learn, they are given opportunities to grow and build toward a brighter future.

We regularly send as many Midwest Mission desks as we can build, but the need for classroom furniture extends far beyond what we are currently able to provide.

Recently, after conversations with Food For The Poor’s team, we learned that donated used school furniture is highly needed. Desks and chairs that may no longer fit a school’s current needs here in the U.S. can become valuable resources for a community that is receiving a classroom.

If you know of a school that is remodeling or replacing desks, tables, or computer desks, we would love to connect with them. Giving used school furniture a second life could help equip classrooms and support students around the world.

Beyond the classroom furniture, this shipment will also support the broader community in El Salvador.

The shipment also included:

  • 1,120 Student Kits

  • 15 Bikes

  • 54 Electric Sewing Machines

  • 5 Treadle Sewing Machines

  • 120 Bed Packs

  • 53 Tarps

  • Hospital linens

  • Walkers, canes, and crutches

Weight: 16,948 lbs

Value: $87,389

Thank you for praying, giving, and volunteering so that children can access education and communities can be transformed through hope and empowerment.
