The Earthquake
Midwest Mission is responding after Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday, October 28. With 175 mph winds, 40 inches of rain, and 13-foot storm surges, this is the most destructive hurricane in Jamaica's history.

The storm caused widespread devastation — flooding communities, destroying homes, and cutting off electricity across the island.

Midwest Mission's Response
Midwest Mission is partnering with Food For The Poor, who is already on the ground in Venezuela, to send immediate relief.

The first immediate request is for mobility supplies to help those who were injured by the earthquake. Hospitals are filled, and they do not have enough equipment to help everyone.

The other requests are Storm Kits (our Home Care Kit with the additions of trash bags and leather work gloves), Personal Dignity Kits, and Bed Packs.
