BECOME A VOLUNTEER LEADER

Volunteer Leaders are specially-trained volunteers who lead others serving at Midwest Mission. Serving for a minimum of two to three weeks consecutively, free of charge, Volunteer Leaders serve as liaisons between volunteers and Staff.

Volunteer Leaders help create a safe, organized, Christ-centered experience for everyone who walks through our doors. 

WHAT VOLUNTEER LEADERS DO

Volunteer Leaders help ensure every volunteer feels welcome, needed, and appreciated.

Core Duties

  • Greet volunteers and create a welcoming environment

  • Serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff — assist staff in delegating and overseeing work assignments

  • Guide and monitor volunteers in making Kits

  • Receive and log donations

  • Help match volunteers’ skills and talents with appropriate tasks

  • Organize and lead end-of-day clean-up

  • Support housing oversight (when applicable)
     

Volunteer Leaders may serve in the Kit Room, Shops, Warehouses, or grounds

WHO CAN BECOME A VOLUNTEER LEADER?

To be considered, you must:

  • Have served as a volunteer at the Main Campus for at least one full week (4–5 days) within the past 12 months

  • Be recommended by two Operations Staff members (including the Volunteer Manager)

  • Be able to serve for at least two consecutive weeks at a time
     

Anyone who has not yet served as a volunteer at the Main Campus must first complete a volunteer week before being considered.

QUALITIES OF A STRONG VOLUNTEER LEADER

We are looking for leaders who:

  • Demonstrate God’s love through actions, attitude, words, and Christlike leadership

  • Relate well to all ages

  • Have a positive attitude, are patient, and adaptable

  • Follow instructions closely

  • Explain tasks clearly

  • Multitask effectively

  • Think ahead and pay attention to details

  • Have good physical health and stamina

  • Maintain a good sense of humor
